Event Launch: the Rotary Corporate Triathlon for the "Gift of Life Program"

A Message from the Rotary Club of Cebu
We are Rotary Club of Cebu, an 84 year old civic club whose sole purpose is to serve humanity. We humbly pride ourselves on starting and sustaining projects that have relevant impact on society, like our 32 year old project called the Community Scouts Youth and Guidance Center. This Center is for youths in conflict with the law that have produced alumni who are now an asset to society.
Another major project we have embarked on ten years ago is the "Gift of Life Program", where we give children with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) from indigent families a second lease in life by funding their heart operations. Since inception. we have had over a dozen children that are scheduled to be operated on. Each operation can run from Php 100,000 to as high as Php 700,000 per child.
The Rotary Coporate Triathlon
The Rotary Corporate Triathlon is a 1.6 kilometer swim, 50 kilometer bike, and 10 kilometer run triathlon event on June 11, 2017 to be held at Punta Engano, Lapu-lapu City, Mactan Island, Cebu. We are targeting a diverse athlete base as Lapu-lapu has long hosted triathlon events and the date we have chosen is also perfect as a tune up race to the Ironman 7-3 Triathlon in August this year.
The event will not only promote the Gift of Life Program but also serve as an eye operner that charity and service to humanity should be part and parcel of each person's will to live. Paying it forward and helping mankind is our mantra. Further, triathlon shows a much similar struggle to our Fife of Life patients - the financial, physical and emotional preparation for both triathlete and child and the eventual triumph as they cross the finish line or after operations connects them beyond definition.
